We still use multiple blocklists, but we use servers with approximately
four times the processor power and twice the memory of fully loaded
RaQ4 servers, for in the neighborhood of 20,000 emails daily.
I'm building dedicated spamassassin machines as we speak... 2.8ghz p4
machines for all initial email spam/virus filtering. We'll then turn off
ALL spam filtering on the RAQs, and just do a final virus scan with a
DIFFERENT mailscanner - probably clamAV.

When you do that do you avoid sending emails to spamd? The reason I ask
is because with the SolarSpeed Spam Filter, the email would still go to
spamd, it would just require a higher score to trigger it as spam.
good point - I'm not sure, but it's made a difference at the moment.

Which model RaQ servers are you using? It's been widely documented here
and elsewhere that RaQs at least through RaQ4 models can actually run
more slowly with more than 512 mb of memory, since memory over 512mb
isn't being cached.
raq3i machines with 500mhz processors running raq4i ISO loads from Gerald.
