All the answers are yes, except the above.
Is it a MIME type I have to add to httpd.conf?
The scriptalias in httpd.conf points to /var/www/cgi-bin which is the
correct location I'm installing everything, I cannot run any script,
same thing happens be it .cgi or .pl.

Make sure that the scriptalias is pointing correct.
Can you run a perl script in the base cgi-bin? Also make sure that the
.pl is set as an accepted extension.

Unless you have to tell the GUI to allow CGI?
I remember having this happen on an Apache install on a Win2K box once,
can't remember the fix, seems it was the way I was calling the
scriptalias path. Sorry.
