Well, i belive the higher pages are where the CPU will boot. But the last
time I worked on designing systems with EEPROM, you could mark pages as
erasable or not.
I think in the case of the RaQs, they must have initially used Intel
EEPROMS, then switched to AMD. It seems to be the older RaQ3s that have
these Intel EEPROMs. It may be the ones with 2.2.x version firmware. Not
sure as we have taken the attitude, that if it has an Intel EEPROM, just
blow it off the board (with hot air) and replace it.
We put 2.3.38 on all RaQ3s that are not shipping with RaQ550 OS, and we
put 2.10.1 on all RaQs shipping with the RaQ550 OS.
We have replaced a couple hundred EEPROMs in the last couple of years, and
we actually replaced one on a RaQ550 yesterday, first one. Not sure what
happened to it.
But the main topic was if your RaQ3 has an Intel EEPROM, don't try and
reflash it with the currently available tools.
