A lot of people ran into this after following the RAQ550 whitebox howto, and
some discussion was about it on the list. Finaly got round to looking into
it. Here is the fix. Also, many people reported the inability to update with
RHN, a fix for that is listed too.
Bob.
Login Expired error
-------------------
After completing the HOWTO, many people were unable to login to the admin
interface, and receive the following message: "Your login session has
expired. To login again, please enter your user name and password."
DO NOT REBOOT !!
type; passwd and re-enter your root password
type; /sbin/shutdown now -r to reboot the box
Re-enter in a web browser the ip number, and login with username "admin" and
password "admin". You will get the setup wizard correctly this time around
:)
At the end of the setup wizard you will be logged out again, with the
session expired message. This time you can login with your new admin
password.
Updating the 550-Whitebox with the latest Redhat patches
----------------------------------------------------
The RH9 up2date tool itsself needs to be updated first, It will gave you a
vague error about SSL and the system time. This has nothign to do with your
system time, but with the new tool required to log on to the RHN network.
Download and install (rpm -U ....rpm) the RH9 version from
https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2003-267.html
Run the up2date tool, and register with the RHN network
Run the up2date tool again with the /u option, this will update your box.
