Hello,

I bought 2 Cobalt Qube 2 for USD10. Since the price was very low, I
expected them not to work. Well, that seems to be the case,
unfortunately.
I plugged in a 3Go IDE hard-drive, and tried to restore the OS using the
Sun Restore CD 2.0. I use a compatible 3com network interface card (it's
in the list). I plug a crossover network cable in the first interface of
the Qube(s).

When I boot the 1st unit, here are the symptoms:
-The LED of the first interface does not lit up
-When pressing select (the "double arrows button"), the LCD screens
displays "Starting up", not "Select option" as I expected.

When I boot the 2nd unit, here are the symptoms:
-When pressing select (the "double arrows button"), the LCD screens
displays "Starting up", not "Select option" as I expected.
-However, contrary to the 1st unit, the first interface LED lit up.

Are those Qube2 really dead?

Thanks!
Nicolas.

Well, there's something new... On the 2nd unit (the one with the network
LED which lit), I pushed the left and right buttons while starting the
unit.
Then, some operations took place on the Qube2. However, after having
partitionned the hard drive, it rebooted. Then, nothing happens, and
"Starting up" is displayed on the LCD.

Do you have any idea?
Thanks
Nicolas.

Hi Nicolas,

I had the same with my qube 3.
I did check 2 items: are the memory bank connected correctly (with mine qube I had 2 banks, 1 of them was allmost lose) and I left my qube overnight on " starting up": it seems that the OS takes a lot of time for checking the disk if for example it had a power faildown, or a replace. I don't know if it works for you as I'm not familiar with qube2, but it might do the trick.
