I have been through google and the archives (honest) and understand how to
use rsync to duplicate existing directory trees onto another linux box. I
already use it for duplicating secondary DNS servers etc.
My question is, what if my RAQ truly died and I didn't just want to pull
over another copy of say the /home/sites directory.
Assume that I have used rsync to back the whole disk (e.g. /, /var and
/home). Am I able to use the restore CD to get a basic RAQ up and running,
then install the rsync client and rsynch all the three partitions back OVER
itself, reboot and hey presto, identical config as the blown RAQ?
Or will rsync have a problem overwriting system files in use etc?
Regards,
Gordon.
