[cobalt-users] ***** HELP with USER accounts on a RaQ2 & RaQ3 ********

Hello Everyone!

I need some help on this one...

I have approx. 3000 web/ftp accounts on a RaQ3 128mb RAM .

And approx. 3000 accounts on a RaQ3i w/128mb RAM used as a radius
authentication server.

And RaQ2 w/ 128mb RAM w/approx. 3000 email accounts.

I have split the 3000 accounts up and created virtual sites
a.<host.domain>
b.<host.domain>
.
z.<host.domain>

...you get picture. Anyway, I placed the users under the corresponding
virtual site according to the first letter of their login name. Changed a
lot of configs /etc/passwd httpd.conf to make this work.
It works great...It accesses their individual dir. through their login for
ftp and can be easily viewed by a browser. Although the GUI dosen't always
work right.

Question: Was all this necessary with 3000 accounts w/ 5mb of webspace
alotted and 13 gig HD? NOTE: I had problems getting all the accounts to
display in the web-interface when I did not create the virtual sites. So I
am assuming about 1500 users(accounts) per virtual site...? What can a
server typically handle with these hardware specs for an ISP? Do I have
repeat this process for the email server POP3 as well?

1) Radius Authentication & Pri. DNS on a RaQ3i w/ 128mb 3000 accounts
2) Smtp RaQ3 w/128mb
3) Corporate Web-Hosting & Sec. DNS on a Raq3 w/128mb (25 accounts)
4) public web/ftp on a RaQ2 w/128mb (3000 accounts)
5) POP3 on a RaQ2 w/128mb (3000 accounts)

What can these servers handle, how much memory do I need, where do I get
the memory for the RaQ2's, What is the possiblity of upgrading the
intel-based CPU's, What is the limit of email accounts(5mb) on 1 RaQ2
server w/128mb of RAM under one site (so it doesn't choke up), Would a
RaQ3 be better able to support this with the same config. or would I need
to upgrade to a more robust server ( more memory)?

PLease Help,

-DAVID
