More than anything you're skimping on RAM...And honestly, if you
actually expect to have 100 * 50 = 5,000 users on your system, you're
really skimping on HD space as well.

Advantages of name based sites is obvious: You don't need a separate
IP for each site. In fact, RIPE, the European IP registry, already
has stopped allocating IP blocks for use with virtual hosting.
As for WWW, there are no real disadvantages to name based hosting
as Netscape 1.0 and higher, IE 3.0 and higher, and Lynx 1995 and
higher all support the Host: header.
Advantages of IP Hosting is that it also allows you to configure
virtual FTP hosting with anonymous access. You can configure it
to work with ftp access for specific accounts to only certain
areas of a site, but for anyonymous to work on multiple sites on
the same server, I believe this still requires separate IPs.
