I am noticing on my server that the pages that have server side includes are
running incredibly slow.  Even a simple SSI is taking many times longer to
load than they do on other servers.  Is this because of the cgi wrapper?  If
so, is there any way to resolve the problem?

In general, every cgi script runs a lot slower.  The SSIs appear to be the
worst.
