I admit that searching the archives takes a combo of time, knowledge and
luck so I'll give you a break.  <grin>

Here is what I do.  It works on a RaQ2.  It may on other systems, but I
don't know.

If the new site is mysite.tld and your main site is www.domain.com, create a
site called mysite.domain.com and add the DNS records for mysite.domain.com
and mysite.tld.  The new site is now viewable at mysite.domain.com.  After
DNS propagates, open the site in the GUI, rename it mysite.tld and remove
the DNS records for mysite.domain.com.
