[cobalt-users] [raq2]gcc 2.95.2 compile probs

I untared/un-gziped gcc 2.95.2 in /home/sites/home/users/admin. I made the
"object" directory /home/sites/home/users/admin/gccobj.

My config.status is this:

../gcc-2.95.2/configure
--with-gcc-version-trigger=/home/sites/home/users/admin/gcc-2.95.2/gcc/versi
on.c --host=mipsel-unknown-linux-gnu --with-low-memory --disable-assembler
--norecursion 


I am trying to compile a new version of gcc, and it fails like so, after
typing make:

hecking whether the C compiler
(/home/sites/home/users/admin/gccobj/gcc/xgcc
-B/home/sites/home/users/admin/gccobj/gcc/
-B/usr/local/mipsel-unknown-linux-gnu/bin/ -g -O2 ) works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C compiler cannot
create executables.

I apparently have configured something wrong. what is it, and how do i fix
it?
