HI Dan,Yes, we've tried changing the password. We suspect that the problem is elsewhere as we can still use the UI, and login to ftp as admin. We have also done the usual things like restart telnetd (via the Web UI). We've explored the file system (as much as we can via FTP) and none of the usual files are present for restricting telnet access. It would appear that only telnet is broken.
This is a stock RAQ3 straight out of the box with the only changes being chown's for the users cgi scripts (CGI-Wrapper on the RAQ3 doesn't allow httpd to be the owner) and chmod's to allow the httpd access to the files/directories on the site with group permissions. We've been good little boys and not violated the warranty by changing anything else. :-)
Another tact, we've been trying is to plug a terminal into the serial port (believe it or not we actually have a VT240 laying around!) but it would appear that login is not enabled on the serial port. Anybody know the magic incantations for that?
It would appear that we're running out of options and are going to have to resort to the OS Restore CD <Sigh!>. Does this mean that I'll have to violate the warranty and install ssh to guarantee admin access? I'm really uncomfortable not being able to monitor the box's health.

Have you tried changing the admin password via the UI? -- Dan Kriwitsky
