Yes.

Suppose ns2.foobar.com is my secondary. I put in a "secondary nameserver
(NS)" record in via the GUI. (Not "Secondary nameserver.")
Now I understand. You put in a second NS record, which points to another
nameserver, which acts as a secondary for the domain. I thought you meant
you set up a sec. zone file, which would be useless on your primary
server. A lot of Cobalt users seem to make that mistake <frown>.
if i don't ns2.foobar.com can't act as a secondary, right?
(won't it be unable to do zone transfers? or is that unrelated?)
According to "DNS and Bind", the purpose of an NS record is to define a
host that is authoritative for that particular class and domain.
Allowing or denying zone transfers is turned on by default, but can be
limited in the /etc/named.conf file. I know of very few people who do
limit, although in practice, it's a "good thing".

No :)
Now that I understand what you're doing, you're right; no documentation
needed <smile>.
