When domain1.generic.com email is activated domain2 and domain3 will not
allow us to activate mail through the web interface. The error message is
this domain is already accepting email.
How are you setting up the domains?
Are you calling domain1 the host and generic.com the domain? If you do
that, then the domain is generic.com, and you can only accept mail for it once.
If you leave the host blank (or call it "www") and enter the entire
"domain1.generic.com" as the domain, then you should be able to accept mail
for each domain. "domain1.generic.com" is a "third-level" domain, but a
perfectly valid one nevertheless. But how do you tell the difference
between a service named "domain1" at domain "generic.com" and a machine
without a name (or with "www" as the name) at a domain called
"domain1.generic.com"? It all depends on where you put the "domain1"
appelation.
