[cobalt-users] RAQ 2 FTP permission denied and new sites.

I have run in to the problem of not being able to FTP (as admin) to my client sites.
I have read the posts on this subject (as many as I can find) but no resolutions seems to exist other than to FTP as the site admin.
This is a pain in the butt, but I am willing to put up with this.
My problem is, how can I do this before the DNS has propogated ?
I cannot find any resolution to the posts placed by others about what address to use as a host address in the FTP client.
In other words, if my IP address is 123.123.123.123 and my domain is "www.hosting-service.co.uk" and my client domain is "www.clientsite.co.uk", how do I upload files to his site prior to the DNS becoming active ?
Many thanks
