Re: [cobalt-users] Primary/Secondary DNS on the same RaQ

Can anyone confirm the following (from what little information I've

 a) Assign a different IP to each of ns1 and ns2 by creating

 b) Enter these numbers into the Primary/Secondar DNS Network
    settings of the control panel;
 c) Create new DNS records as per the norm, pointing to ns1;

At this point it's unclear how I setup and configure ns2, ie: do I
add a Secondary Nameserver (NS) Record or a Secondary Nameservice
for each domain, and what is the proper way to configure a secondary
DNS record?

You don't do anything else at all except that you create two NS records in each zone file, one for ns1 and one for ns2.

Your box doesn't know anything about a secondary server, and it doesn't care. But domains know there's another server, called ns2. That it's just another IP# pointing back to the same box makes no difference to DNS, even though it's non-robust and dangerous usage.
