[cobalt-users] Primary/Secondary DNS on the same RaQ
- Subject: [cobalt-users] Primary/Secondary DNS on the same RaQ

I have a client who will be leasing one of our RaQs to provide web
hosting for his design clients (reselling).
He doesn't want to use our secondary DNS (on a separate RaQ3), and
insists on having his own anonymous name servers, ie:
ns1.hisdomain.com
ns2.hisdomain.com
I need to be able to run both the primary and secondary DNS off the
same server. I know this doesn't provide a redundant backup, but if
the server goes down his sites are offline and secondary DNS ends
up being a mute point...
Can anyone confirm the following (from what little information I've
been able to piece together...):
a) Assign a different IP to each of ns1 and ns2 by creating
a single "A" and "PTR" record for each;
b) Enter these numbers into the Primary/Secondar DNS Network
settings of the control panel;
c) Create new DNS records as per the norm, pointing to ns1;
At this point it's unclear how I setup and configure ns2, ie: do I
add a Secondary Nameserver (NS) Record or a Secondary Nameservice
for each domain, and what is the proper way to configure a secondary
DNS record?
Thanks for any assistance.
