The Cobalt developers use a fairly standard setup, RedHat's samba rpm. :)

If you want to see where it put its files, will logged into the system, type:

rpm -ql samba

What will give you a list of the files that were installed and where they
are located.

If you want to see how the RPM was created, grab the source rpm (SRPM) from
cobalt's ftp site and install it.

rpm -Uvh <source rpm>.

Then goto /usr/src/redhat/SPECS and read the spec file.

http://www.rpm.org has good into on RPMS as does 'man rpm'
