At 07:43 AM 3/2/00 -0500, you wrote:
You can see a brief statment of the 99.9% guarantee at

can request a copy
Getting more and more interesting...
First, to set the stage, I live on the far fringes of the Los Angeles
Metropolitan Area, in Riverside County, which is what we call the
California Low Desert. I live about one third of the way between the
University of Los Angeles at Riverside, and the telephone company CO that
serves them (about 1.6 crow-flies miles from the co).
The Rhythms website busines solution pages tell me I can get Rhythms
service. But they ask me which reseller I choose to use. Of course I
don't know any of their resellers, so I choose one at random and call them.
They tell me they can't sell me Rhythms, the salesrep tells me they're
still "penning the agreement with Rhythms." But, he tells me, he can sell
me Northpoint. They're sending me their Northpoint SLA.
Interesting, say what ?
<smile>
So I called another reseller, this one with a major southern California
presence. They say that I can't get Rhythms service; it's "planned"
(remember, the Rhythms site said I can get it). Their other solutions
don't offer any service level or speed guarantees but "generally most DSL
providers guarantee 80% of speed, though of course it's dependent on the
quality of your line; lots of things can go wrong."
So, more double-talk in the sDSL arena. At least here. I'm glad you got
something that works for you. Have you ever had to use their guarantee?
If you know anyone at Rhythms who can help me wade through the mess
(frankly, I'd like to resell their solution, but only once I understand it
and find someone with clue), please have that someone call or email me; My
email is <jblists@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> and my telephone number is (909) 787-8589.
Thanks.
Jeff
