How can I change my server to allow PERL control over files and directories?

The Cobalt RaQ runs Red Hat Linux 5.2 (for the RaQ2) or Red Hat Linux 6.0 (for the RaQ3).

So you do it the same way you do it on Red Hat Linux:

Either the perl program is run by the same user or the same group, depending on file and/or directory rights, or you run the perl program suid.

Of course before you run a perl program suid you'd better understand the security holes you're creating.

Especially if you're going to run the perl program from a browser.

And you'll most likely have to disable the cgi-wrapper.
