Can't say I ever heard of using netmasks or /24 or /8 or /16 or /whatever in
DNS. However, I haven't tried to run DNS on a RAQ. I have run accross some
Linux apps that seem to want that kind of notation. I use old fashioned Sun
SPARC's for DNS and keep the files up by hand. I suppose if I ever get to
the point where I am changing/adding hundreds of domains a day, I'll have to
change though.

Interesting. Hmmmmm.....
Can't find any reference to this in the book DNS & Bind. Only something
like this:
0-63.254.253.192.in-addr.arpa. IN NS ns1.foo.com
And only for delegating.
Hmmmmm....
Any DNS experts on the list know anything about this? (I've never done it,
yet my reverse DNS seems to work just fine <hmmmmm.....>
