I have also experienced frustration in understanding the
wizard. I wonder if its just easier to directly use ipfwadm. At any rate it
would be very nice if Cobalt could provide a little more explanation as
to how the wizard works and provide examples or default
configurations. Otherwise you will just have to figure it out
on your own. The best way to do this is after you enter and
enable the wizard's rules use ipfwadm to see what actually gets
generated. For example, ipfwadm -F -l will show all the forward rules. You can
also find a few firewall documents on the internet that are quite
helpful.
