Think that has cracked it but for checking to see if it works re go to
http://cobalt-server/users/admin/php.php3 after downloading php.php3 file as
browser said :"The page cannot be displayed". I have probably run the test
wrong, see below:

The following happened when installing PHP3:

rpm -ihv ftp://ftp.cobaltnet.com/pub/experimental/mod_php3-3.0.7-1C2.m
ips.rpm
Retrieving
ftp://ftp.cobaltnet.com/pub/experimental/mod_php3-3.0.7-1C2.mips.rpm
package mod_php3-3.0.7-1C2 is already installed
error: //var/tmp/rpm-ftp-0-2282.tmp cannot be installed

rpm -ihv ftp://ftp.cobaltnet.com/pub/experimental/mod_php3-doc-3.0.7-1
C2.mips.rpm
Retrieving
ftp://ftp.cobaltnet.com/pub/experimental/mod_php3-doc-3.0.7-1C2.mips.
rpm

package mod_php3-doc-3.0.7-1C2 is already installed
error: //var/tmp/rpm-ftp-0-2286.tmp cannot be installed

Does this mean it is installed, great...?!?

P.S DOes it matter that I had(unknowingly) installed PHP3 before the Mqsql
as the instructions on the FTP site do state that the 5 RPMS should be
install in a specific order?

same boat.  I just followed the instructions given below and it worked.
