Having done exactly this, there has been *very* little traffic to
the old IP since about an hour after we changed the IP of the website.
(I got an old machine up on the old network as a basic webserver
saying "we've moved"). Mostly from a search engine that clearly
caches the IP not the domain name. (Duh!)
I think we had TTL down to an hour.

Ah. Because they are run by The Clueless. Certain Large ISPs are guilty
of this, according to Rumour.
