Subject: RE: [cobalt-users] Site
Reporting and Email questions
For site reporting I would go with wusage...I have installed
wusage on the Cobalt servers and it works without any kind of problem.
It is very easy to install and configure. If you go to http://teamcobalt.interliant.com/webstats you will see the
output of Wusage. I put a little bit of documentation up (not very
pretty) on installing and configuring Wusage if you go to http://teamcobalt.interliant.com/wusage.html.

[cobalt-users] Site Reporting and Email questions
Ok, here it goes... first the basics. I am a
newbie. I am dangerous when
it comes to Unix
(I know too much for my own good, but too little to be of
any real use). I have a raq3i, and I own the whole thing.
All the sites on
it are mine, no paying clients,
etc. PHP3 is properly installed, mod_perl,
and
mySQL are also up and running.
First, I need to deal with site reporting/logging.
What I would like to do
is to create an area where I
can read all my reports that are generated
nightly
for all of the sites that are on my site (this would need to be
created, and what program should I use). I am
considering analog or wusage.
Input regarding this
would be great. Anyone used the analog form and perl
script to generate reports on the fly? This would be
great! I also need to
ask questions about
logging to make sure that they don't get deleted etc.,
and that the can be used for reporting at later dates, etc.
Basically I am
looking for a robust set-up for
logging and reporting of my sites. I'm sure
this has been done before, which is why I am asking. No need to
reinvent
the wheel.
My other question is for an email program. I hate
windows and Microsoft!,
but I must say that outlook
and it's ability to sync with a server is great.
Everything is kept in one place etc. I know that this is the
purpose of
IMAP, but what I don't want to do is have
to reconfigure mail programs
everywhere I go.
I know there are things like IMP, are there any else? and
will any of these sync with a program such as
outlook? How about handing
contacts and
calendar items?
Thanks a lot for the help, and sorry about being so long
winded.

P.S. Private responses welcome.

Hi
Add the following to your htaccess file and it will
work:
Authname 'Restricted Stuff'
AuthPAM_Enabled off

Basically, I have set up a .htaccess file and .htpasswd file.
Everything
seems OK until I try to visit the
directory. On inputting my user name and
password in
my browser window I am prompted to do it again, and again, until
I am presented with an access denied message. The server my
account is on is
a Cobalt RAQ and here is the
contents of my .htaccess and .htpasswd files
(for
security reasons I've masked out the password with question marks and
changed the path to the directory in this example):
