[cobalt-users] admin httpd errors
- Subject: [cobalt-users] admin httpd errors

All:
/var/log/httpd/adm_error on my RaQ3 was full of these entries, one every 15
minutes -- caused by the monitoring cron job, I am sure:
[Sun Feb 6 05:45:01 2000] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] Directory index forbidden
by rule: /usr/admserv/html/
looking at /usr/admserv/html, I had the following two files:
drwxr-xr-x 30 root root 1024 Dec 9 22:27 .cobalt
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 74 Jan 4 13:07 robots.txt
Noticing that there is no index.html in the directory, and with
DirectoryIndex set to index.html in /etc/admserv/conf/srm.conf:
DirectoryIndex index.html
I added an index.html in /usr/admserv/html:
ln -s robots.txt index.html
and my log stopped filling with errors.
1.) Do others have these error messages piling up?
2.) Given that the cron job was not getting good data back from the server,
why did the active monitor not say anything was wrong with the web server?
(It's fair to speculate that only that "main" server is reported by the
active monitor, but why kick the admin server every 15 minutes if there is
no report of its having gone down?)
Thanks in advance...
