[cobalt-users] Chilisoft ASP

I just heard that Cobalt is supporting ChiliSoft ASP.

I am actually pretty furious about this. Here we are, trying to support the
open source community, building better applications and they go out and
partner with a Closed-Source technology that is based upon a technology that
is from Microsoft, and designed for Microsoft. It'd be one thing if there
was a technology out there that is as good or better than ASP. But there
is--PHP.

I am appalled that Cobalt is going to undermine the same people that have
been supporting them (such as myself). I think Cobalt has done some great
work. I support them, and use their products. The PHP development group
has been outstanding and I support them and use their products. I act as a
evangelist for both.

They would be better served staying true to their model. How about putting
the same energy into supporting PHP on Cobalt's servers, instead of it being
'experimental' and typically outdated? Evangalize the superior technology
and when someone asks if you can build ASPs on a Raq ask them "Why, when you
can use PHP?".

Just seems like back-stabbing to me.

If Cobalt makes any more commitments to closed-source projects that are in
direct conflict with superior open-source ones I am no longer going to be
supporting and advocating them. If Cobalt doesn't step up to the plate and
start supporting PHP a little more, I am going to bail as well. Which is
unfortunate because I've been advocating Cobalt products for about a year
now.

Does anyone agree with me on this one?
