Greetings Group,
re: RaQ3i
I just ran into the famous relay problem and I'm not sure how to proceed. I
installed several name-based domains (Friday) on the same IP. I received my
first support question/problem regarding relay errors for the new users. I
probably should have tried to send mail via this customer's domain before
turning them lose. But everything else was working fine and I wasn't
expecting any problems since I've pretty much followed/setup the box by the
instructions to the letter.
The customer reported an error stating: "relay denied, port 25 secure..."
The problem is - *no* users on the machine are setup as APOP (secured) -just
plain Jane POP3. I myself then tried to use one of my new accounts to send
mail, and I just receive the error:
"Unable to connect to the server....yada, yada.. Error # 0x800cc0e".
I use Outlook 2000 and have it configured as: "My Server Requires
Authentication...." for out-going mail (I've tried it with and without this
feature enabled).
Am I missing something?? I've done a search on this topic and there's
dozens of questions, but it doesn't seem like there's any definitive
answers. Many threads regarding a "patch" that Cobalt introduced and (I
guess) then removed. Is this .pkg still laying around, and is that I'm in
need of to correct this problem..? Or is the patch buggy (as some of the
post suggest) and it's simply a matter of some other tweak?
Any advice/suggestions from the group would be greatly appreciated.
Best Regards
Craig Napier
