Thanks for coming back to me on this one
Jeff.
Whilst I was away (last 3 hrs) I have been playing
with ideas like redirect url url in the httpd.conf file and so forth but to no
avail.
So - to answer your neatly put
questions:
>>I am sure that its a simple DNS entry but would appreciate a
pointer as I
>>have just been given 40 domains to do this to! (They all need to point >>towards 1 website). >Depending on who hosts DNS, and whether the sites all have their own IP# or >not, you may be able to do this in DNS. We've done it both in DNS and >using redirect scripts in a very small webspace. >Are the sites name-based or IP#-based?
The sites (all of them) are name-based , but not
yet entered into the virtual hosts as I was trying to keep file space for other
things :) (however we'll enter then asap when ready) - have been testing with
existing domains.
>Do you host all the sites that need to be forwarded? Do you host the >destination site? We hold all the sites, and will host all of them. Its the intent to forward all http traffic to one site for a customer with loads of domains. However the trick would be useful to know how to go
to externally hosted domains as well.
>Do you host DNS for all the sites that need to be forwarded? Do
you host
>the destination site? I host DNS for them all and host the destination
site too, (above variance also applies).
Thanks a lot for your help ongoing on this one
Jeff, I have looked elsewhere and other users of this list have attempted to
help (thanks),
Owen Lees
(with no sig!) :)
