[cobalt-users] RaQ3 - ProFTPd keeps bailing

Hi,

We've got a brand new RaQ3 and we've just put quite a few sites on it (less
than 100) and now find the FTP daemon in inet takes MASSES of CPU and memory
whenever anyone tries to connect and shortly kills the whole server soon
after. Anyone have ANY clue why it doing this?

We've tried upgrading to Pre10 (started on pre8) and even downgrading to
pre7, but same problem. Next we tried switching to a standalone demon, same
again. Even running with:

/usr/sbin/proftpd --debug 5 --nodaemon  (in standalone)

It didn't show anything unusual at all. It seems to "hang" AFTER you've
keyed in username, but before it prompts you for password. Eventually it
WILL connect fine, but by this time server has such high load httpd/admserv
have already died and a second ftp will kill the machine.

Anyone have any idea please?
