Greetings Group..
I'm scheduled to receive my first Cobalt RaQ3i system Monday, and I'm trying
to jump-start the SSL cert installation process. This is the first time
I've installed a certificate, and I'm a little confused about the process.
The Thawte web site states: Follow the instructions that come with your
secure server software, and generate a private key and a certificate
signing request (CSR).
While I know the RaQ3i is running RedHat, and Apache, I know little about
the secure server or the steps that follow. dN told me after I received
access to the box, to contact Cobalt and they'll supply a "key" to unlock
the secure server..(?) From my understanding, the RaQ3i already has a
secure web server built-in.. correct..? Why do I need a key from
Cobalt...(and where do I go on their site to obtain it if it is necessary).
Also, which setup procedure should I follow to generate the key and CSR?
Thawte's web site contains info on the Apache-SSL setup, and the
Apache+mod_ssl setup, and several dozen other servers... But is this the
information I should follow for my key and CSR generation with my Cobalt
RaQ3i...? Or is the process on a Cobalt RaQ3i server different from the
info here..??
Any input or direction from the group would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
again!
Regards,
Craig Napier
