RE: [cobalt-users] administration - web or manual?

We are a little unique because we are an ISP that owns their own building
and have their own server room so we distribute services accross several
platforms. We have the luxury of using up space and don't need to worry
about colo fees.

So..

We put DNS on servers that run strictly DNS, IMHO RAQs are not meant to
run DNS, anything past 20 or so domains become a kludge, we host hundreds
of domains so dedicated name servers make more sense.

As I said below RAQs for us do simple webhosting and mail jobs and that is
it. Nothing more than that. If folks want database connectivity, we
provide the with M$ SQL or MySQL connectivity and we also will put them on
an appropriate box that was built and designed to do that function.

Cobalt's whole mission was to provide a click and drool interface to make
basic webhosting easier. Where they have gone wrong is not telling
customers that they only support the interface. That they don't support
Linux questions, for that you neeed to go to linux.com, the mailing list,
or some other linux support mechanism.

Linux is not hard to learn, it is no harder than truly running an NT box
or Novell box the correct way, the same amount of knowledge needs to be
applied. In my opinion linux is easier to run, I prefer text config files
to registry hacks anyday :)

BTW Kevin, thanks for helping me out with SSL on our RAQ, the
documentation from COBALT sucked rocks and they could help me. You helped
me out in two emails. That is what the linux support community is about.
