For some people without the time to figure out how to set up Apache for this, it may be a good alternative. The $1,600. might be cheaper than their in house staff time to set it up. On the other hand, as with most specialty software, I'm sure the price is negotiable.
You make some interesting points, Dan.For me it's a no-brainer; I've been setting up secure servers for some time. I've recently switched to RedHat 6.1 Professional, which includes Red Hat's Secure Server (based on Apache), for several servers (Intel Red Hat). My RaQ2 happens to be supplied by a company that set up a secure server for me.
Since the RaQ3 is supposed to be better architecture than the RaQ2, and since it comes with secure server set up on it, I also would have to ask is the difference in price between similarly configured RaQ2s and RaQ3s more than $1600? I prefer single-vendor solutions whenever possible.
And last, I really don't believe the price is negotiable. YMMV. Jeff
