Re: [cobalt-users] RPM Installation of glibc

You need to load more than a new glibc rpm if you want to upgrade. If
want to get the latest you can download the EXPERIMENTAL kernel and
glibc. This is a unified kernel that is currently in SQA testing and
should load on all MIPS processors.

ftp://ftp.cobaltnet.com/pub/users/jeffb/All-Kernel_mips-1.0.pkg

Should be installed first, contains:
kernel-headers-2.0.34C52_SK-2.mips.rpm
kernel-2.0.34C52_SK-2.mips.rpm
modutils-2.1.121-1_C4.mips.rpm

ftp://ftp.cobaltnet.com/pub/users/jeffb/All-Kernel_mips_tools-1.0.pkg

Should be installed second, this package is quite large I would suggest
ftping the file to your unit, to avoid browser time-out during
installation. Once the file has been transferred, to install type the
following as root:
% /usr/local/sbin/cobalt_upgrade All-Kernel_mips_tools-1.0.pkg
% reboot

contains:
01ldconfig-1.9.5-2.mips.rpm
binutils-2.8.1-3C1.mips.rpm
egcs-1.0.2-9.mips.rpm
egcs-c++-1.0.2-9.mips.rpm
egcs-objc-1.0.2-9.mips.rpm
flex-2.5.4a-3.mips.rpm
gcc-2.7.2-C2.mips.rpm
gdb-4.17-5.mips.rpm
glibc-2.0.7-29C2.mips.rpm
glibc-debug-2.0.7-29C2.mips.rpm
glibc-devel-2.0.7-29C2.mips.rpm
glibc-profile-2.0.7-29C2.mips.rpm
libstdc++-2.8.0-9.mips.rpm
libstdc++-devel-2.8.0-9.mips.rpm
readline-2.1-5.mips.rpm
readline-devel-2.1-5.mips.rpm
