Didn't know that.

I don't KNOW it either, but I do KNOW that it's possible for them to have "free" IP#s from previous allocations, and I'd imagine they do if they're willing to give them out for free.

Otherwise it's possible they overcharge so much for transit and/or connectivity that they can afford to give them away <wry grin>.

How and where can I get portable IPs if I colocate and don't have my own connection? And how much are those portable IPs?

Arin has certain requirements; included among them are that you've been in business a certain amount of time and have already used a certain amount of IPs, so there's always that first painful changeover.

Colocation shouldn't be an issue, since everybody in the world who's connected to the Internet is connected to someone else (yes, even Qwest <smile>).

You do know how to write a good "justification" for needing the IPs every time you need them; it's somewhat of an art form, I've been told.

As far as the actual costs and numbers, I don't recall; I imagine the information is on the ARIN website. Some of it's been discussed here Saturday.

This really isn't the list for this discussion; if interested, you should ask on the <inet-access> list; it's specifically for ISPs, specifically for such issues.
