Jeff, > Boy, do I wish that were true. IP#s are most certainly NOT free.Strange. We colocate with webpg.net (an excellent company by the way), and they give us as much as we want, and they don't chargeanything (nor are they charged anything by Qwest). And we use hundreds of IPs.
Qwest still has lots of IP#s from the old days, before ARIN started parcelling them out (and charging for them).
Howerver, for you and for webpg it's a PROBLEM.The reason is that if you ever leave webpg, or if webpg ever leaves qwest, you won't be able to keep the numbers, and you (and everyone else) will have to renumber.
And Qwest can ask could conceivably ask them to renumber at any time.Today the best bet is to get your own portable numbers which you can take anywhere. If you can't do that, second best is to get them from someone who can.
Yes, I guess I could have been more specific; if you've got, or can get, numbers given out under the old system they are free. But limited in their functionality, as you can't take them with you.
