Well, good old reboot seems to have fixed it. I'm not sure why the poprelayd
version I have was suddenly running away with the server resources.
Everything is back to its very fast normal. I guess I'll have to get in the
habit of maybe a monthly reboot.

Thanks to Will, Neil and David for their pointers. It wasn't a total loss, I
learned that the "EWAN terminal emulator" handles "top" just fine. I wish I
had more time to learn Unix.
