Ahoy
Type "top", hit enter, and you should see a header full of very useful
information, such as how busy your CPU is, the status of your memory, etc.
This header is great. Good to consult whenever you are on, just to keep tabs
on status.
Below that header is a list of the top processes currently running. Each
process has an id number beside it. By typing "k" and then the number, you
can kill off something you don't like.
WARNING: When I got my new RaQ2 just last month, I drove myself bananas
trying to get top to run properly. It would show the header, but not list
the processes. After a week or so of wrassling with this, I finally got my
vendor involved, who got through to a Cobalt dude, who advised me that you
have to use NetTerm as your telnet client to get top to run! So, I can run
top on (lemme count fingers here) eight different servers right now using
Win95 telnet or (my fave) Mocha, but for the RaQ2, I have to use NetTerm.
He, however, does not consider this a bug in their RaQ, but rather a bug in
any other telnet. Go figger.
Aloha
