Hi,
Please be gentle with me, I haven't got a clue !
I have spent hours on line going through the
archive and have resolved some of my problems,
not all.
I run a small business struggling to get bigger
hosting only my clients websites (although I
have two clients which manage their own sites).
It became a logical progression to get my own
server and here I am, stuck.
I have managed to get some help from the company
who hosts (and supplied) my server but this is a
little restricted. Some setup was conducted by
the suppliers but I am not sure how much.
My questions are many but an answer to these
might help me get properly under way.
1. If I upload my website to
"/home/sites/home/web" the address bar on the
browser shows "http://ns.ecsweb.co.uk/index.htm"
("ecsweb.co.uk" is my domain name and "ns" is the
name applied by the RAQ supplier). This looks a
bit odd, is there anything I can do about this
?
2. To resolve this issue I have set up a Virtual
Server for www.ecsweb.co.uk, it works OK but
just does not "feel" right and I can't find the
logs. Is there a better way to do this ?
3. In either of the above cases I am having
trouble approaching the POP3 mail server and the
manuals are not very clear. Can anyone tell me
exactly what the address of the POP3 server
should be in each of the above cases.
4. In one of the posts (I can't find it now),
someone said that their hosting service had a
great series of tutorials for his Cobalt. This
took him through from zero Linux and ability to
got-it-all. I looked at the site for this
company but the tutorials must be for their
clients only as I couldn't find them. That is
what I need. Does anybody know of something
similar ?
Sorry so many questions. :-(
Many thanks in advance
Tim Prowting.
