However I have run into issues with Tomcat and Java running out of mem. Despite lots of memory being used as cache. Also FYI, Java does not like to use swap memory. In fact to date I have yet to get Java to use swap space at all. Usually I will get out of memory exception if the only free mem is swap. So it's possible for apps to think the machine is out of memory? Possibly not making the proper calls to the kernel or memory allocation to cause the cached stuff to be freed so the mem can be used else where. Not sure, just know I have run into it before. Not XTR specific by any means though. I have not know he XTR's to leak memory. Sounds more like an app with a memory leak not properly freeing used memory or something? -- Sincerely, William L.
