[cobalt-developers] Converting a 550 from pwdb to /etc/passwd

Has anyone tried to convert the pwdb password format of the 550 over to
/etc/passwd & /etc/shadow?
Wanting to install Tac+ into the 550 and instead of altering Tac+ for pwdb
access altering the 550 to use passwd and shadow files seems the quickest
method for doing this.
From all I've seen so far, the pwdb access is controlled via PAM so just
altering the PAM configuration should be it, unless there are some magic
Cobalt files that access the pwdb files directly.
Anyone try this? Is there a known gotcha (like other programs besides PAM
accessing the pwdb files) that would put the kibosh on this?
Or, alternatively, is there a method to get the 550 to update both
locations (db & passwd) at once?
