The RaQ4 kernel sources can be found here:
ftp://ftp.cobalt.com/pub/products/raq4/eng/updates/SRPMS/kernel-2.2.16C33_III-1.src.rpm
Other sources for the various appliances are also available on that FTP
server.

When the RaQ boots press the "S" button on the frontpanel and select "boot
from ROM". That will boot with an older Kernel which is stored in the Boot
EEprom. That kernel is independent from the one on the disk.
