You can just setup symbolic links to your /home drive and move stuff off the / drive.
ex: /usr/local -> /home/usr/local

You need to move stuff off of '/' to /home
Steve Bassi has a script that moves /usr/local to /home/local
That will give you some relief.
Search the archives, I can't remember the name of the script
