Bad luck! I applied it here and went smoothly, even after all the heavy
modifications I've done to the sausilito (cce) stuff.

Cobalt users list: http://list.cobalt.com/mailman/listinfo/cobalt-users btw.

Okay, firstly the backup you've taken is the DATA only, it won't repair this
damage, to repair this we can either fiddle about, or you wipe the whole
thing with an O/S restore and put the backup data back (hope u verify the
backup regularly just in case)

It does sound however that cce hasn't come back up. Try:
/etc/rc.d/init.d/cced.init restart

And see if any errors pop up, try logging in again, this time when you do so
also have:
tail -f /var/log/messages
in your telnet and see what messages appear.
You should see things like this:
Nov 25 09:05:09 intranet cced(smd)[207]: client connection accepted from
[15:923]
Nov 25 09:05:09 intranet cced(smd)[989]: AUTHKEY succeeded for user admin from
client [15:923]
Nov 25 09:05:10 intranet cced(smd)[207]: client connection accepted from
[0:990]
Nov 25 09:05:10 intranet cced(smd)[991]: client [0:990] has admin rights
Nov 25 09:05:10 intranet cced(smd)[991]: AUTHKEY succeeded for user admin from
client [0:990]
Nov 25 09:05:10 intranet cced(smd)[991]: client [0:990] disconnected

If not, paste them back to us and somebody might spot the problem.
