RE: [cobalt-developers] Disappearing request Certificate

Jon,

You are most likely going to have to buy a new cert. Here is your
problem. You use your certificate request only when ordering your secure
certificate. The Key file is always stored only on the server. Since you
generate your request using the key file, you have one of two
problems...

1) your key file is corrupt / missing.
2) your certificate is corrupt / expired.

Since certificates are issues by domain name, changing your ip should
not matter. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS backup your key file to a CD or disk.
It will prevent this in the future. Because the certificate file is
always backed up by your issuing authority, you can get out of binds
like this by backing up the key file. The request file is useless once
the certificate has been issues. Check with your certificate authority
on the expiry possibility. Otherwise, they will allmost surely charge
you to issue a new certificate. Try begging. Sometimes if you are really
nice, they wont charge you. Or at least give you a discount.
Nonetheless, you will have to generate a new key, and request file in
order to get a new cert.

Hope that helps.

Subject: [cobalt-developers] Disappearing request Certificate

Hello everyone,
Last night I was told to change my IP address's because of large company
in Canada "Telecom" went bankrupt....during this, one of my employees
some how removed my "request Certificate" information and every time I
try to add the secure certificate back in I get " key dose not match"
...any help would be great. Or am I bund to buying another Certificate.
I am not sure if this is a developer question or user?
