Re: [cobalt-developers] Java question

You DON'T want to do this. The reference to JFC/Swing means that the
product you wish to install is assuming that the computer has a display,
and in the case of Linux, it must have XWindows. There are alternatives
(headless x-servers), but if you like your "vanilla box", I wouldn't
mess with it.

This is the type of advice I was looking for :)

My guess is that you want an instant messenger server, and not an
instant messenger client. It looks like you are about to install the
client, which would be useless on your RaQ. There are a number of IM
servers that you can use on the RaQ, just check SourceForge.

Just so you know, I wasn't *about* to install anything; not without hearing from this group first!!! I have 2 sides, server and client; only the server would go on the RAQ, the client is PC based. Does this change your mind on anything - what would be the correct questions to ask this company before I even think about thinking about putting this on my RAQ3i. I guess I'll start with *which of this stuff do I need for just the server*; *do I need X-Windows*. Any others?

THANKS!!!!!!!
