RE: [cobalt-developers] RAQ3 fails to boot after rom update 1.8

I had a similar problem after removing a corrupt disk and doing a restore.
It turned out that the partion the rom was looking for to boot from was not
the partion the restore CD created. You can change the partition the rom
looks for via the lcd interface. Your problem sounds very similar just from
another direction.

This may even be the issue with what seems to be a timeout problem. The RaQ
would find the partion containing the boot sector if I did a reboot from the
lcd.

Hope this helps?

pete

Hello!

Did the same thing, the problem in my end is that the disk do not spin up
fast enought.
I did this:

when booting press space to go to rom command
wait 10 secs
enter reboot

it should find the disk.

I've installed
ftp://ftp.cobaltnet.com/pub/users/jeffb/rom/RaQ3-ROM-Update-1.8.pkg and I
think this was a wrong idea....
After installing this from the webinterface I had to reboot.
When rebooting, the cobalt network logo appeared and nothing happens.
(Oops?)
Using the console i get this:

Cobalt Networks, Inc. - Connecting the Dots
                  Firmware version 2.3.25

Current date: Thu Jul 05 18:51:31 UTC 2001
ROM build info: Thu May 11 12:01:47 PDT 2000 freakshow.cobaltnet.com
System serial number: Uninitialized
Memory found: 96 MB
Initializing I2C bus: done
Scanning PCI bus: done
Initializing IDE: done
Initializing SCSI: no SCSI controller installed - failed
Initializing ethernet: 1 ethernet controllers installed - done
Initializing flash: done
  Flash Bank 0: AMD AM29F080B 1MB
  Flash Bank 1: not installed.
Mounting rom_fs: done
Initializing i18n - language "en": done

Press spacebar to enter ROM mode
Booting default method - From disk

After this nothing happens. The disk-led is on but not flashing or
anything.
After 10 minutes or so I decided to turn the damn thing off.

Did someone ever had this problem? And how can I solve it?
I can get into rom-mode but I don't know what to do there, the test menu is
empty?

Please Help Me!!!!!!!!
