I think you are reading more into Tim's note than is
realistic. Tim was curious about the SCSI card issue
because the bug would probably have been handed to him.
And when he thought a bit more, it turned out that he
had heard of the problem. That's all. Tim does not
speak for our support and sustaining efforts.
Note that this is the DEVELOPERS email list. The purpose
is for Sun Cobalt's developers to connect to create an
informal network for developer related issues. Some of
us inside Sun Cobalt listen and try to smooth out bumps,
but we all have day jobs :-). Well, except for Gordon,
whose day job involves copious amounts of bump smoothing
for developers.
This is not a venue for tracking bugs. When a bug report
is sent here it is typically forwarded to our internal bug
tracking proceedures, but this is not a formal process. A
bug may already be fixed with a patch in the SQA process,
and *all* the Sun Cobalt readers of cobalt-developers may
be unaware.
