Gordon Garb <gordon.garb@xxxxxxx> said:Dear Cobalt Developers, I'm researching how we can provide a better development environment for you. Right now, I'm focussing on PHP. What PHP modules are most important to you as developers? You can reply to the list, or to me off-list.Thanks for asking for input. At the least, you might wish to include support for: MySQL LDAP Oracle Another module is GTK (http://gtk.php.net/), although this needs X Windows libraries installed, and think about making PHP as a standalone binary, so it can run scripts outside of the Web server. If you really want to add value, consider adding the Midgard module, which is available from http://www.midgard-project.org. This provides a very comprehensive database-centered Web content management and application development system, with excellent support for Virtual sites under Apache. We're also developing on Cobalts with Ars-Digita ACS 4.0, but that's based onTCL, not PHP.Finally, a little off-topic, but I'm curious to know if you support extending the Perl-based admin interface with hooks for administering applications we build. I've looked, but can't see it documented anywhere.
Thanks for your suggestions.Yes, the Sausalito architecture was developed to make it easier to hook your applications into the product environment we've built. So far, Sausalito is available for the Qube 3 product family.
A draft of the Sausalito Developer's Guide is available from the developer ftp site, or through developer.cobalt.com.
Best Regards, /Gordon
