Statically Linked ? On a Raq2 the only way I've been able to upgrade etc is
to download complete source, configure, make, make install, take down
server, copy over httpd, init server again etc - you'll have to ask others
for terminology details.
See http://asiapac.cobalt.com/products/pdfs/ for datasheets on RAQs.

Nope sorry

Raq 2 and 3 are NOT PHP is a no brainer to install. The trickiness lies in
Apache (a complex ./configure line; a MAKE-INSTALL stuffs up the GUI etc),
but isn't difficult; I've done it many times; and have PHP403sp1 and latest
Apache working fine.
The Raq2 needs a specially altered mod_auth_pam.c (i'll post it to you if
you want) when recompiling Apache. It also does not come with FLEX, a
requirement in the php-setup process. Cobalt has developed an RPM for this;
RPM -hUv ftp://ftp.cobaltnet.com/pub/experimental/flex-2.5.4a-3.mips.rpm
I'm not sure if this works or is even needed on Raq3/4.
Other than that , it IS a no brainer :)
As I hinted eariler tho, a RAQ4 has PHP support out of the box (and
Chillisoft too...)

Depends on the perks; if customer is not simply making a one-off payment,
but instead paying regular 'subscriptions', they will expect to be given
free updates, prompt and effective customer service, technical support ...
